2021 Return to Play Update

GHLL RETURN TO PLAY UPDATE - FEBRUARY 2021

Gig Harbor Little League Families,

We know how eager you all are to have your players return to play and we are all just as eager and excited to get them back on the field. For the past few months, the GHLL Board has been working very hard to make that happen, and we are so excited to announce the Board unanimously voted to move forward with a 2021 GHLL Season!

As with so many things in our lives today, because of COVID restrictions, things this year may not look exactly like a “normal” season, but we’re going to do everything we can to to make this season a great and safe experience for our players and families.

What will the schedule for the 2021 season look like?

As of February 1st, our region is in Phase 2, which allows us to hold Player Evaluations, and have both practices and games. With the assumption that we will remain in Phase 2, the board has set the following key dates for this season:

  • March 2nd - Online Registration Closes
  • March 6th  - Player Evaluations for Coach/Player Pitch(AA), Player Pitch(AAA) and Majors Baseball & Softball

*NO EVALUATIONS WILL BE HELD FOR TEEBALL OR
COACH PITCH (A) BASEBALL

*Upper Division Baseball and Upper Division Softball - Evaluations
date and time TBD

  • March 9th - Make-up Player Evaluations
  • March 15th - Teeball, Baseball and Softball Practices Begin
  • March 20th - Teeball Games Begin
  • April 5th - Baseball and Softball Games Begin
  • Mid-June - End of Season Baseball & Softball City Tournament Championship and Teeball & Coach Pitch Baseball Jamboree

Practice and game schedules will not be available until right before our season starts.

NOTE: Should our region at any point have to move back to Phase 1, we will continue to have our season under the conditions of that phase.

2021 Refund Policy - Once practices have started, there will be no refunds of registration fees without GHLL Board approval. Fees will not be refunded if we have to move back to Phase 1. Any registrations canceled prior to the start of the season will have the registration fees returned minus 10% for operational costs.

What are the conditions and restriction under which we may Return to Play?

As directed by Little League International, GHLL will adhere to state and local government and health department guidelines and will follow Little League International Return to Play guidance and Best Practices. The commencement and structure of our season is dependent upon the restrictions in each phase of our state’s Roadmap to Recovery plan, and Governor Inslee’s Sporting Activities COVID-19 Requirements

My player is on the wait list, do I have to register them again?

If you have already registered to the wait list, you do not need to register again. Over the next few days, we will be activating players from the wait list. Once that happens, you will receive an email confirming your players activation and there will be a link to login to your account on our website and pay your fees online. You will have until February 14th to login and pay your fees, and after that, your registration will be canceled. Payment of this fee must take place prior to participation in Player Evaluations and/ or placement on a team.

If you have not registered yet, and wish to do so, our Online Registration will remain open through March 2nd.

Reminder - If your player does not meet the Little League Residency or School Attendance requirements but you feel your player may be eligible with a waiver, before proceeding to online registration please contact our GHLL Registrar at [email protected]

NOTE: If you donated your full 2020 registration fee to GHLL, once you are activated from the waitlist please wait 24 hours for your $50 credit to show on your account.

As we have all learned over the past year dealing with this pandemic, phases, restrictions and safety protocols are subject to changes and modification. While we are committed to doing everything we can to ensure that your players can play baseball and softball this season, we are also committed to making sure that they are doing so in a environment that is safe for all players, coaches, umpires, volunteers and families. Schedules, rules, protocols and procedures may be changed or modified to ensure that we can keep our coaches coaching, umpires umpiring and most importantly, our players playing baseball and softball.

Please watch your email for more detailed information regarding Player Evaluations on March 6th and further updates about our season.

We cannot wait to see you all back at the fields and to finally be able to say - PLAY BALL!
