2024 Gig Harbor Little League Registration Information
Gig Harbor Little League is an all-volunteer organization that cannot provide a quality Little League program to our kids without the generous donation of your time and effort.
The quality and consistency of the Little League experience each year is largely determined by the number of volunteers. The size of our league has grown so much these past few years, but volunteer participation has not, and it has been challenging at times to operate our league without sufficient volunteer participation. We need all parents to be able to volunteer sometime during the course of the season to support not only your child’s team, but also Gig Harbor Little League as an organization. Big or small, there's always something that you can do that will be greatly appreciated.
Starting this season, GHLL will be requiring families (excluding families with players only registered in our Tee Ball, Quickball and Coach Pitch Baseball & Softball divisions) to sign up and commit to volunteering for a minimum of 4 hours per family this season.
We realize that not all families are able to meet the above volunteer commitments. Families that choose to opt-out of the volunteer commitment will be charged a $100 non-volunteer fee during the registration process. This fee is per family, not per player. Similarly, if you volunteer for a specific role but don't fulfill the volunteer commitment by the end of the season, your account may be assessed the fee.
Listed below are the volunteer roles you can choose from during the registration process. We do not expect you to just jump in and do these tasks on your own. GHLL will provide trainings and fully support our volunteers in these tasks.
Umpire – Minimum of 3 games at the Coach/player Pitch (AA) level and above
Scorekeeper/Pitch Count/Scoreboard – Minimum of 4 games during season or in the City Tournament
Field Maintenance/Prep – minimum of 4 times in a season
Assisting Board Members at the following:
End of night clean-up of GHLL fields/park – minimum of 4 times in a season
Special Projects (Projects as approved by the League President and Executive Board)
Become a Volunteer member of the Executive Board
PLEASE NOTE: If you do not sign up for a volunteer role during registration, if you have a player registered in our Baseball or Softball programs in the Coach/Player Pitch (AA), Player Pitch (AAA) Majors, Intermediate, Juniors or Seniors Divisions, the $100 Non-Volunteer Fee will be added to your registration fees and is due at the time of registration.
All volunteers need to complete the required volunteer background check and BASE Abuse Awareness Training before they can begin their volunteer tasks.
2. Registration Deadlines
The registration deadline for our Teeball, Quickball, and Minors (Coach Pitch "A", Coach/Player Pitch "AA" and Player Pitch "AAA") and Majors Baseball and Softball programs will be January 31st, 2024 OR when the division or program has filled up - whichever comes first.
(Registration for Upper Division Baseball and Softball will remain open until March 2024 or until a divison has filled up.)
We encourage you register as soon as possible. Last year many of our divisions filled up long before the January 31st deadline.
Once a division is filled, it will become waitlist only. You may waitlist for those programs by selecting the division you’d like to register for, and your name will be added to our Waitlist. You will not be charged any fees unless your player is added to our program from the waitlist. Once a player is added from the waitlist and is registered in our program, you will have 48 hours to pay your registration fees or your registration will be canceled and you will be removed from the waitlist.
**Players who are added to the waitlist are not guaranteed placement on a team.**
The GHLL Board will determine which players, if any, we are able to accept from our waitlist. It is impossible for us to predict if/when we'll be able to accommodate a waitlisted player, since roster spots will only become available due to a player drop.
3. Teammate/Coach Requests
Due to Little League Rules regarding the operation of our league and our draft process, for our Baseball and Softball programs, we cannot accommodate any teammate, coach, carpool or scheduling conflict requests, nor can we switch players to another team once the teams have been drafted.
Our Tee Ball and Quickball programs the only programs in which we accommodate coach and/or teammate requests if possible.
Looking forward to the 2024 season!

** Please read the following information before proceeding to online registration **
1. AGE VERIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Gig Harbor Little League provides programs for players “League Age” 4 to 16. You can determine your child's league age by clicking this link - League Age Calculator. Once you have determined what age group your child falls into, you will need to make sure you have an original birth certificate to show proof of your child’s age. You will be required to upload a copy of your player's birth certificate during the registration process, and will not be able to proceed with registration until you have done so, so please make sure you have your players birth certificate before beginning the registration process. It must be a clearly legible document. ***NOTE - if you are a returning player, you should not have to upload a copy of your child's birth certificate as you had already done so as part of the registration previously.***
2. RESIDENCY AND SCHOOL ATTENDANCE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Confirm that your player meets the Residency or School Attendance Eligibility requirements - players will be eligible to play with GHLL only if you reside or attend a school within the GHLL boundaries.
Click here to use the Little League Finder to determine if you reside within our league boundaries.
- SCHOOL ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:
If you do not reside within our league boundaries, but your player attends one of the following schools, you are eligible to play in GHLL:
- Artondale Elementary School
- Discovery Elementary School
- Harbor Heights Elementary School
- Pioneer Elementary School
- Purdy Elementary School
- Voyager Elementary School
- Swift Water Elementary School
- Goodman Middle School
- Harbor Ridge Middle School
- Kopachuck Middle School
- Gig Harbor High School
- Peninsula High School
- Gig Harbor Academy
- Harbor Christian School
- Harbor Montessori School
- Hosana Christian School
- Lighthouse Christian School
- St. Nicholas Catholic School
Players and their parents/guardians are advised that a false statement of age, residence or school attendance may lead to ineligibility to play Little League Baseball or Softball.
3. Once you have completed these steps, you can now proceed to Online Registration. Note: You will only be able to register your player in the division for which they are League Age eligible.
*If your player does not meet the Little League residency or School Attendance requirements but you feel your player may be eligible with a waiver, before proceeding to online registration please contact:
Candy Nelson, GHLL Registrar at [email protected].
NOTE: Registration for the Majors Baseball and Softball Divisions is only open to League Age 12 years olds; however, all League Age 10 and 11 year olds who attend Evaluations are eligible to play in the Majors division and may be drafted to a Majors team.
4. Because of the size of our league, GHLL has been split into two separate leagues - Gig Harbor American Little League (GHLL American) and Gig Harbor National Little League (GHLL National), operated under one Board of Directors. Both past and new players entering the league, League Age 9 and older will be placed in the respective League for the remaining duration of his or her GHLL career.
All players designated as a National League player will be eligible for draft to a National League team only, and players designated as an American League player will be eligible for draft to an American League team only.
Due to this, and Little League Rules regarding the operation of our league and our draft process, for our Baseball and Softball programs, we cannot accommodate any teammate, carpool or scheduling conflict requests, nor can we switch players to another team once the teams have been drafted.
Our Tee Ball division is the only division in which we accommodate teammate requests if possible.
If you have any questions or issues with the registration process, please email our Registrar.
