We are very pleased to announce the winners of our MLB Jr Home Run Derby:
10U Division - Gabe LaPlante with 4 Home runs
12U Division - Chase Attebery with 11 Home runs
14U Division - Cole Krilich with 20 Home runs
Congratulations boys, you battled hard and did an amazing job!
These boys have all been playing in GHLL since they were old enough to start playing Little League. It was really fun to see how much you have grown as players over the years, how much your hard work and dedication to the sport has paid off, and most importantly, to see how much you love to play baseball.
Chase and Cole will go on to compete against other local derby winners at the Regional Competition at T-Mobile Park (Safeco Field). If they win there, the Regional Champions will advance to the Finals, which will take place during the 2021 World Series™
Congratulations also to our carnival prize winners:
Vivian Sweet - a Wilson A2000 softball glove
Wyatt Lumsden - a Wilson A2000 baseball glove
Bo Novak - Rawlings First Baseman Glove
Henry Dersham - an Easton Baseball Bat
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Jason Kennedy our VP of Baseball, and Rob Miller our VP of Operations for planning and arranging the derby and games and prizes. With all the uncertainty of changing COVID restrictions, you had a very short window of time to pull this all together and you did an amazing job.
Deserving of a huge shout out (and some ice packs) are Jordan Foster, Josh Jacobson, Ben Sleeter and Rob Miller for throwing hundreds of pitches yesterday.
A big thank you and a huge round of applause for our fabulous Derby Announcer, our GHLL President Eric Strachan. We’re not sure who was more excited about the home runs - the kids who hit them, or Eric. 😁
Thank you to Ron Brentin for running the scoreboard all day - there were a lot of home runs to keep track of!
Thank you to our Umpire in Chief John Deschenes, our VP of Softball Pat Thomas, Christy Stapleton, Scott Johnson, Beth Zanuttini, Lisa Foster, Ryan Barabe, The Bafus Family and the Miller Family for volunteering to help with check-in, running the games, helping with set up, and clean up. We would not have been able to have such a fantastic time without your help.
To all the kids and families who came out to the derby on Sunday, we hope you had as much fun as we did watching you all compete.
For those of you that missed out on it, we hope to see you there next year!
