Upper Divison Baseball All Stars Tryouts
Intermediates and Juniors Baseball Parents,
The league will be having tryouts this year for the Upper Division all-star teams on Thursday June 2, 8PM-9PM on Field #1 @ Sehmel Park. The league typically does not traditional conduct tryouts for all-stars but since there were enough kids who opted out of all-stars, the league is not able to field our usual 1 team per division - Intermediates, Juniors, and Seniors. We have enough kids to form only 2 teams (1 Juniors and 1 Seniors) and therefore we cannot conduct voting as our usual method since the kids don't really know the kids from other teams since they don't play each other (as is the case in lower divisions at majors and below). The tryouts are going to help the all-star managers and league decide which kids are best suited to play on the Seniors or Juniors team and it means all IM kids will play up a level and possibly some Juniors kids will as well. It also means that it is possible that not every kid will be selected to one of the two teams we will field for all-stars. The league's goal is to field the best two teams out of the available kids who have not opted out of all stars.
The tryouts will be brief but cover fielding, hitting, pitching/catching basics so please have your son bring all his usual equipment. Please arrive @ 7:45PM to check-in and also start to stretch / warm-up so that once we can get on the field we can get started. Following try-outs, the managers will select Seniors and then Juniors teams and then the league will announce team rosters on June 11 after the City Tournament is completed.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Jason Kennedy
