Gig Harbor Little League is now accepting applications for Team Managers and Assistant Coaches for Teeball, Quickball Baseball and Softball and we look forward to receiving yours! Every year we have an outstanding group of volunteers but we can never have too much help. If you've thought about managing or coaching but aren't sure, rest assured that Little League International and Gig Harbor Little League have tremendous resources for running practices, understanding the rules, and making the season a great success.
To apply as a GHLL Team Manager or Assistant Coach, you must first sign up for a Volunteer Role in our system. When you are selecting a volunteer role, choose the role you're applying for (either Manager or Coach) and then you will be asked to answer some GHLL specific questions as part of the process, as well as answering questions to start the Little League background check process. You will also be required to upload a copy of your Drivers License during the sign up process.
Once you have completed signing up for the volunteer role in our system, you will receive an email from the background screening company with a link to complete the online Volunteer Application. The link to the application is only valid for a few days, so please make sure you click the link in the email and complete the online application as well as signing the application electronically or your background check will not be processed.
The second part of the process is to complete the USA Baseball BASE Abuse Awareness Training . This is a new part of the Little League Volunteer Application process for 2024, and along with passing the background check, the training must be completed before you will be allowed to begin any duties with the league this season.

Again, you will not be considered approved to volunteer until you have completed both the background check and the BASE training.
Deadline for Manager and Coach applications is January 31, 2024
Following that date, any applications will still be considered, but in order in which they were received.

If you did not sign up as a Team Manager or Coach as part of your child’s registration process, here’s how to sign up for a Volunteer Role in our system:
To apply as a GHLL Team Manager or Assistant Coach:
STEP 1:
You must first sign up for a Volunteer Role in our system to start the application and background check process. Please log in to your account on gigharborlittleleague.org and click on the Volunteer tab >> and then click on Find Volunteer Roles.
IMPORTANT: If you do not already have an account in our system, but the other parent does, please have them add you as an additional user on their account so you are linked to your player(s). If you create your own account, we will not be able to link you to your player’s account.
When you are selecting a Volunteer Role, choose the role you're applying for (either Manager or Coach) and then you will be asked to answer some GHLL specific questions as part of the process, as well as answering questions to start the Little League background check process.
*You will need to upload a copy/picture of your driver's license as part of the process, so please have that ready to go.
Once you have completed signing up as a volunteer, the role will display in your account like the image below:
STEP 2:
Once you've completed Step 1, you will receive two emails - one from GHLL confirming that you have signed up to volunteer, and more importantly, an email from "Gig Harbor American" containing a link to complete the volunteer application online. YOU MUST CLICK THE LINK IN THIS EMAIL AND COMPLETE THE BACKGROUND CHECK APPLICATION ONLINE. YOUR BACKGROUND CHECK WILL NOT BE PROCESSED UNTIL YOU HAVE DONE THIS.
You will be providing the background check company with your personal information (we as a league do not have access to that info) and signing electronically to authorize the screening to be done.
You have 14 days from the time you receive the email with the link to complete the application. If you do not compete the application by the deadline, that can be considered equivalent to refusing to take the background check, and you would be reported to Little League as Ineligible/Did Not Pass.
The email with the link to the application should look like this:

The Volunteer Application takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and we recommend that you double check the information you provide for accuracy to make sure there is no delay in processing your background check.
To remain in active consideration for volunteer work, you must complete the Volunteer Application within 14 days.

The online application should take at most 10 minutes to fill out. You will not have completed the background check process until you complete this step and sign electronically online.
Make sure that you receive the email confirming that you have completed the online application, it will contain your file number and it should look like this:
